Matt is our Chief Clinical Officer and has been treating substance abuse, trauma, anxiety, stress, depression, and other disorders in adolescents and adults in Newton for years (decades!). His passion is helping people move from crisis to long-term healthy living.
Sameem’s practice and philosophy of care are based on Matt’s wealth of experience. His approach is that life is good- not always easy, but always good. Regardless of the suffering we have faced - and some have faced a lot - or the difficulty of our current circumstances, people can learn to survive and thrive. Matt’s mission is to help patients get to that place.
While Matt offers individual therapy, group therapy, and family/couples therapy, as well as group therapy. Matt specializes in creating long-term groups that form the basis of a thriving healing community, an important foundation for ongoing patient health and recovery.
Michael is a board-certified physician specializing in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Addiction Medicine, with a focus on managing opioid use disorder and supporting patients in their journey to recovery. His deep understanding of addiction and its complexities is complemented by his previous experience as Chief of Neurosurgery at Partners North Shore Medical Center and Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Georgetown University Medical Center.

Kirsten is a dedicated Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) intern at Sameem Behavioral Health, where she specializes in supporting patients with Substance Use Disorder, trauma, psychosis, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at UMass Chan Medical School, Kirsten combines her advanced training with over a decade of clinical nursing experience to provide compassionate, evidence-based care.

Her background includes serving as a charge nurse in behavioral health and addiction treatment settings, where she honed her skills in crisis intervention, medication management, and leading interdisciplinary care teams.

Jim is the Executive Director at Sameem Behavioral Health. With a passion for creating sustainable, effective care systems, Jim has expanded Sameem’s programs and streamlined operations, making it easier for our team to focus on what matters most: helping people.
Though his career spans industries and includes founding successful businesses, Jim is most inspired by the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. He believes in empowering patients and their families to navigate challenges and build pathways toward long-term recovery and thriving lives.
Prior to Sameem, Jim founded and led multiple successful ventures, including Connected Home Care, which became one of Massachusetts’ largest private pay and Medicaid home care agencies. With an MBA from the Wharton School and a BA from Princeton, Jim brings a blend of innovation, technological integration, and business acumen to every role.
