For people managing drug addiction or alcoholism, especially people with dual diagnosis like depression, anxiety, and stress, the need for support often rises and falls.
To treat drug addiction or alcoholism, including with a dual diagnosis,, Sameem has three levels of individualized support:
Intensive Programs
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP Adolescent & Adult programs)
Enhanced Support
Sameem Enhanced Support Services
Long-term Healthy Living
Sameem Healthy Living Services
When a relapse of drug addiction or alcoholism leads to a crisis, we can mobilize quickly with an Intensive Outpatient Program. Likewise, as you step down to aftercare, we can offer long-term programs with many treatment options.
All 3 of our alcoholism and drug addiction support programs are designed to help you maintain your sobriety and feel:
In order to start outpatient care at Sameem, you must be medically stable and free from withdrawal symptoms. Some people may require detox or hospitalization to reach a stable state conducive to beginning addiction treatment. During this phase, treatment medications may be administered to manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings, ensuring the individual is prepared both physically and mentally to engage successfully in the recovery process. A Sameem prescriber can manage continued prescriptions for cravings management, if necessary.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Level 1
Enhanced Support
Level 2
Healthy Living
Level 3
People in a crisis or just emerging from residential care typically start their care at Sameem in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Often, the crisis has precipitated an inpatient residential program, which may have been followed by a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). People eager - and ready - to return to a schedule closer to their normal daily lives might move straight to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). IOPs focus on learning about the various ways addiction can present itself and how to identify and avoid risky environments going forward. Part of treatment in this level will also include identifying underlying situations that trigger addictive behavior.
People in Enhanced Support meet for 1 hour, three to five times per week, as needed. Programs are always individualized to meet individual needs. During this level individuals will focus on managing themselves in risky environments. This may be immediately following discharge from residential or IOP programs, or may be a live circumstance such as a divorce, job loss, or other stressful period. In both group and individual sessions they will discuss skills and techniques that they can use to successfully cope with trigger situations. Experiencing, talking through and hearing how others manage difficult situations provides a strong foundation. As one progresses in their treatment, the amount of time in this program diminishes.
People in Long Term Healthy Living are living a "normal" life while successfully navigating everyday triggers. In this stage people focus on maintaining a sober lifestyle and optimistic outlook while successfully managing life's challenges. Sessions can be eliminated altogether, and clients can also return at any point to help navigate any new challenges that they need help with.
Healthy Living is the state of mind for people who manage addiction in their lives. As time goes by we get better and better at avoiding risky situations and coping with triggers we encounter when we aren't able to avoid them. Staying connected at Sameem can be part of a long-term strategy for maintaining sobriety. If you have moved on and find life's stresses rising, then reconnecting with Sameem can be helpful in avoiding a relapse. And if a relapse does happen, Sameem has a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere where you can overcome your relapse and continue on an optimistic and hopeful path through sober living.
